Choosing the right front door for your home can be an exhausting process but we’d like to help! We’ve highlighted some key factors that have helped many of our customers navigate this daunting task.
Your front door is the first thing visitors see when arriving at and entering your home. It’s also the last thing they’ll see when leaving. So choosing the right front door is an important part of home design.
If you’re considering a composite door, which is a very popular choice, then we think the key factors are:
- Range of door styles
- Types of door glazing
- Range of door furniture
- Door cost considerations
Range of front door styles
Composite doors are manufactured by different companies and will come in different styles depending on the manufacturer. For example, at Three Counties we use Solidor and Doorstop for our composite doors. Both manufacturers have a great range of styles, so you’re bound to find one that works for your home. However, it’s worth taking some extra time to make sure the style you choose is one you will love for years to come.
Types of front door glazing
Some door designs come with no glass, which means you can skip this factor if you know you want a glass-less style. However, for a door with glass panels, or possibly even a glass side panel, you will need to consider the type of glass and what design you would like for it. With clear, frosted, and patterned glasses all in different designs, some with leading and some with etched designs, there are virtually endless combinations. Plus, if you are wanting matching glass in a side panel and in the glass portion of the door, you will need to make sure the design you choose is available for the door and the panel.
Range of door furniture
When it comes to a front door, you usually will have a letterbox and a handle. There is the additional option of a knocker or spyhole, and all of these come in different colours and styles. It’s worth researching all of your options and taking a look around – perhaps in your local area – to see what you particularly like the look of. Door furniture will usually come in complete sets, where each piece can be made in the same colour, but some furniture options may not be available in certain colours.
Cost considerations when buying a new front door
Finally, the cost is an important factor. Different design options will naturally be different prices, so it’s important to have everything priced up to make sure it’s within your budget. This is especially true if you are looking to complete other home improvements around the new front door. Three Counties are proud to offer a free quotation service, so do get in touch, regardless of what product you are looking for!
Other considerations when choosing a new front door
There are other factors to consider too, such as whether to update the surrounding area by adding side panels or constructing a porch, even replacing side doors and windows at the same time. We’d be more than happy to talk through these considerations with you and offer tailored advice. We know this is an important decision and we’d like to help you get it right.
